Another fun little fireplace mantle refinishing project for one of my best friends. Cleaned, sanded, primed & painted with @envirolak matched to S&W gauntlet gray. #KaleidoscopeInteriors #JourneymanJess A quick fireplace update! The stone was white washed in riposo beige color & then lightly distressed to show off some of the natural color/texture. The mantle was refinished to look more like weathered wood with an antique oak stain & couple of coats of a walnut matte toner. #KaleidoscopeInteriors #JourneymanJess 👋Starting today I will be unavailable to take calls or messages until Tuesday March 30th👋 Until then.... An industrial cabinet primer & topcoat from @envirolak were color matched to agreeable gray and peppercorn. Flooring & some fresh paint the brown wall behind the island are next on the homeowner’s agenda & we can’t wait to see the final after photos🤩 #JourneymanJess #KaleidoscopeInteriors Refinished this oak island last week 🤩 the homeowners love the new look & will be repainting the brown wall behind it & are having us refinish the rest of the cabinets a lighter gray color. These oak cabinets were color matched to SW Peppercorn in @envirolak catalyzed 180 primer & topcoat #KaleidoscopeInteriors #JourneymanJess Took a break from cabinets to work on a couple of fireplaces 🔥 & did some normal painting (re-textured and painted a bathroom, living room entryway, and hallway) Both homeowners were thrilled with the end results. Nothing makes me happier than text from a client that just got home saying they loved & appreciated my & Sam’s hard work 🥰 Have a great day & Color Your World! 🎨🌎#JourneymanJess #KaleidoscopeInteriors Did you know February is Heart Health Month ❤️ This kitchen was one of the most challenging ones I’ve done yet but the praise & thankfulness we received from the homeowners made my day!!! 🎉The cabinets were 35yrs old & very dry open grained oak🚪The homeowners handy made worked hard at repairing some of the doors that had bigger cracks/splits in them & side rails that had slipped & were no longer sitting flush & we fine tuned them to hide them. The old oak had a very deep thick grain so I opted to bring out the big guns right from the start. Two coats of @centurionwood low odor vinyl sealer (even brushed & rolled it on the microwave cubby/casings that were made of cheap plywood... I know what you’re gonna say but it can be done) Thank you to @valleywoodcoatings for getting back to me & shipping that out! It was a life saver on this project!!! 1-2 coats (as needed) of @aquacoat grain filler & really pushed it into the door/drawer fronts & then topcoat with #Milesi from @clarkdeco As always thank you to the worlds best part time helper/ friend/my favorite apprentice @elementgirl15 Her attention to detail on tough projects is top notch 👌Have a great day & Color Your World!!! 🎨🌎JourneymanJess 💡 📸 🎥 I announced in Dec2020 that it had been a pretty exciting🎉 past couple of months for my business, for a few reasons! One I can’t chat about yet... but here’s a few I can! Last week I took a break from cabinet prep work to turn this black fireplace mantle into a warm weathered wood look. I did not strip or repaint the mantle. I just cleaned it really well, sanded it and used a variety of @generalfinishes waterbased stains. These stains can be mixed together to create custom colors, dry quickly & work great for layering to create this look. Afterwards I top-coated it with their flat finish to make it look more like natural wood & to match the sign above it. The homeowner was absolutely thrilled with the end results. She was not a fan of the shiny black mantle. Scroll through to see the before & during the process photos.
